Happy Birthday Junhui!

We celebrated Junhui's birthday a day earlier than the actual date in the form of a BBQ at Yunxia's place.

Junhui and I pride ourselves to be the best fire starters LOL!

We had so much food (we even ordered pizzas), I was super bloated at the end. Yunxia's mom was even so nice to make us desserts! Yum yum.

I'm in love with the birthday cake that was made for Junhui by Ziyun's aunt. So colourful and very yummy..!

Happy Birthday Louis!

This would be the kiddy birthday party at MacDonald's post.

It was my cousin Louis' birthday celebrated at MacDonald's on Saturday, 21 April 2009. He came from Hong Kong to study in Singapore. Such a long way from home. His parents though, flew over to celebrate his birthday for him. Awwwwww.

This will be my first ever party at MacDonalds, and last, I hope. LOL. It really isn't my thing.







I love this photo, not because it's nice, but 'cos it reminds me of something funny.

You see how my aunt (Louis' mom) is holding her hands behind her back? She's actually preventing my mom from putting in more money into the ang pao and my mom is actually trying to pull her hand so she could give her more money.

They had this mini push-o'-war where my aunt tries to push the money back to my mom and mom and pushing it towards her. It lasted for near 20 minutes. HAHAHAH!

Mother Nature's Crafts

My laptop's down again (using my mom's now).

But that's okay. Something brightened up my day a whole major lot and it's something I want to share. What's that? The most breathtaking beauty I ever saw.

After the kiddy party at MacDonalds today (more on that in a later post), I went back home and dozed off pretty quick. I woke up around 6 something and the first thing I noticed was that my room was bathed in a pool of warm pleasant orange light.

That's new. Ever since I moved to my current place, this is the first time a sunset turns everything around me a shade of orange so warm, it didn't feel real. What do I do next? I grabbed my camera.

I walked up to my window, stared out and was greeted by an amazing sight. A rainbow against the sun-setting sky. So far, the only rainbows that I have seen was when the sky's a bright blue and so (to me), a rainbow in a sun-setting sky is truly a sight to behold.

But nothing beats what I saw next.

Mother Nature creates one of the most breathtakng beauties and nothing beats the crafts that She makes. Nothing.


How often do you see sights like this? Almost never. Well, for me anyway.
This sunset is unlike any other that I saw. I can't find words to describe it and it leaves me breathless. I didn't want it to end.

I sat by the window to slowly savour the picturesque sight and to snap photos, of course. I wasn't the only one. I saw flashes from cameras from other HDBs and it warmed my heart even more to know that there are people who sees this beauty too.

As the day slowly gave way to night, so did the warm orange light. With the orange glow fading at a distance, the colour transits into beautiful shades of pink and purple and then a dark blue as night approaches.

I don't know how long I sat by the window.

I have a complain though. My camera. Don't get me wrong, it is a really good digital camera but for moments like this, I wished I had a professional one to capture those images in a much better quality. Heh!

You may say that I'm making a big fuss out of a sunset but hey, we've only got one chance in life and while we're at it, I say let's all occassionally take just a short break from our busy lives and observe the things around us. See the beauty in them.

It can be the sight of a mother embracing her child, ants crawling up a tree or even water droplets on leaves. It can surprise you how something so small can mean so big if you could just open up your eyes and heart.

Oh yeah, this may sound cliche but I'm bent on living my life to the fullest.

Too much time, for now.

My student's at China and won't be back till tomorrow or Sunday.

IT Fair is over, no more waking up early morning and dragging my feet back home at night.

Bestfriend is booked from Tuesday to Sunday by primary school kids.

When IT Fair ended, so did my busy schedule. I kept consulting my planner, in hope that some event might magically appear which didn't, of course. Even trying to go online didn't help because for the past few days, my laptop decided to faint on me and was rendered useless till today.

Sucks.

But staying at home is good for me, in a way. I'm referring to the cash-in-wallet part. LOL! My finance management skill is ridiculously bad and I would keep telling myself from time to time that I need to control those money-spending urges which till now, never worked.

Already, shopping with bestfriend yesterday made me spot several goodies that I'm itching to get my hands on ._.

And I finally had my first taste of macarons yesterday. It's not too bad albeit being kinda too sweet. Expensive little things though.

Cooking, Baking, DVDs

Grocery shopping + DVDs rental came up to a staggering $110++ something for 4 persons.

You see, 'A' levels results release date was on 06 March '09 at 2:30pm and Carin suggested that we, as in Roxanne (she couldn't make it in the end), Leroi, Aaron and I go over to her place on 05 March '09 to cook, bake and stay up till the next day eating and watching DVDs to help relieve stress.

There was pasta, beef meatballs with cheese, apple crisp, apple crumble and peanut butter cookies.

On the day itself, it was grocery shopping and DVDs rental and lunch in the morning/afternoon with Leroi and Carin. Leroi puts me to shame with his, in my opinion, excellent grocery shopping. He does it even better than I do and his cooking skills? Brilliant.

Carin had dance and would only be back at around 10 something (pm) so we decided to leave all the groceries at Carin's place before heading home to sleep to prepare ourselves for a sleepless night.

By the time the cooking, baking and washing up were done, it was 1:10am.

We watched V for Vendetta, Accuracy of Death, P.S. I Love You and Mamma Mia. We wanted to watch The Devil Wears Prada but it jammed halfway and when we wanted to watch Pearl Harbour, the static was louder than the sound so.. Yeahhhhh..

To sum it all up,
